Empire Records is being made into a musical

Is it too early to line up to buy tickets?

Empire Records - the CLASSIC 90's movie about a record store and trying to keep it from being bought out by a large company - is being adapted into a Broadway musical slated for a 2020 premiere.

The original writer of the film, Carol Heikkinen will be involved (which is always a good sign) along with with Zoe Sarnak, who will oversee music and lyrics.

That is a big undertaking - the film embraced SO MANY great 90's songs - remember this soundtrack?

"Till I Hear It From You" by Gin Blossoms

"Liar" by The Cranberries

"A Girl Like You" by Edwyn Collins

"Free" by The Martinis

"Crazy Life" by Toad the Wet Sprocket

"Bright As Yellow" by The Innocence Mission

"Circle of Friends" by Better Than Ezra

"I Don't Want to Live Today" by Ape Hangers

"Whole Lotta Trouble" by Cracker

"Ready, Steady, Go" by The Meices

"What You Are" by Drill

"Nice Overalls" by Lustre

"Here It Comes Again" by Please

"The Ballad of El Goodo" by Evan Dando

"Sugarhigh" by Coyote Shivers

"The Honeymoon Is Over" by The Cruel Sea (Australian and German edition)

Yeah, I think I'll be firing the movie up on Netflix this week (maybe you watched it in celebration of Rex Manning Day yesterday?!)
