Singer-Songwriter Jac with No K talks songwriting, cheese steaks, +more!

Jac with No K (Jac Carson) is a Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter who plays solo and along with a full band sometimes. He came to Philly for college at Temple and stuck around, joining the group Saint Wilde, where he played guitar for several years. Now he's doing his own alt-blues project, and has just put out two EPs in the past two months -- House Show Dreamboat, released in June 2019, and Songs for a Long Drive Home - released in July 2019.

I had a chance to hang with Jac and chat about many, many things! We talked about his songwriting processes, the inspiration behind some of his songs, like "Jenna Please" and "From a Singer to a Worried Mother," how he likes his cheese steaks and where he prefers to get them, love and relationships... as well as the fact he saved up money to take a year to try to make it as a working musician! He admits to not always having been the best singer out there, but with the help of a great voice teacher and sticking with lessons for a while, he was able to access his big vocal range and become a decent singer. So take that as a lesson, and get some lessons if you're struggling, folks. We also talk about how important the live show is to a band and some amazing live bands that blew us away after seeing them the first time when we didn't know much about them beforehand.
