Philly's Dr. Dog announces their final tour

Which would you like first, the good news or the bad news? The good news is that beloved Philly band Dr. Dog just announced a big fat tour for 2021 that included three hometown shows. The bad news is that they've shared that this tour will be their final tour. But wait, more good news, this doesn't mean the band is breaking up - just that they won't play live shows anymore. This is a mega disappointment for anyone who has had the pleasure as seeing them in person - my first show was back in Troy, NY, June 14th, 2008...and my most recent was a triumphant hometown show at The Met Sept 21st, 2019. You better believe I'll be catching some of these "last tour' shows.

The band will officially wrap up their days playing live shows with three hometown Philly shows: The TLA on December 29th, and a two night stand to wrap up 2021 and their touring career on December 30th and 31st at Union Transfer.

Read their full statement, as shared on Facebook, below:

Today we’re sharing two wildly dissimilar bits of information with everyone. Firstly, we are touring in the fall! Lastly, we are done touring after that. Done touring for good! It is a disturbing thing to read, I'm sure, and trust me, an equally unsettling thing to write, but it's all good. It's important to us that you understand that this is not a break up or anything like that. We don't know what Dr. Dog will do, we just know it won’t include going on tour, except the tour we're announcing now, which is going to rule. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 11th at 12pm local time. But top secret band presale is tomorrow at 12pm ET. Top secret password: DRDOGLIVE. Presale tickets are limited! drdogmusic.com
