Philly's Ritz At The Bourse Movie Theater Closing Its Doors

Sad news for movie lovers in Philadelphia - Landmark’s Ritz at the Bourse is shutting down - and quickly too. The last screenings in the Old City theater will be January 26th… just 6 days away. The independent theater has been open for 30 years - since 1990.

There was no definitive comment on why exactly the theater was closing (luckily we still have the Ritz East and the Ritz Five open), but it would be no surprise if it had to do with the decline in box office receipts for indie and specialty films. Many of them have struggled to gain traction at the box office in recent years, as Netflix and streaming services have ballooned.
