While his music certainly doesn't fit the alternative music genre, here in Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill is definitely a name heard often. Now, Meek not only gets his own day (today the 14th), but this whole weekend has been declared "Meek Mill Weekend" by city council.
The 31 year old, from Philly, is being honored as a musician AND a criminal justice reform advocate.
“The one time that my City of Philadelphia showed me support was the one time I came out of prison and I want to show the support back and do it for the people that actually stood up for me,” Mill said. “That means a lot.”
This coincides with Mill's tour which starts here in Philly with dates both Friday and Saturday nights. Will you be celebrating?
